We are happy to announce we haven't eaten our quails! Glad you're still following, we have upgraded the nursery to a more spacious and sunny patio enclosure...
It was a lot of work finding another box today but it worked out well for us in the opposite end of the cage, it's twice the size as this box in the picture. The travel was amazing and I loved seeing the sights but there is more to be done! Now we have kiln dried pine for them, since they have grown up...
I change it daily and the birds are looking comfortable, still sleeping together and can reach the food and water from either level, which I was suprised. So I left it up there to keep it from being buried in wood shavings. As well, the water is in the corner because it's on a tile which I actually kept for many years as a family heirloom... it keeps the water from spilling and being buried, the birds like stepping on it too.
I think we have one rooster, which is what we asked for! We still haven't run out of feed for our 6 quails and are half of the way through the bag. Overall I was excited to finish our work with the quails today and to have minimal trouble getting a little upgraded, it seems to have been a success! Quails are easy and so satisfying to take care of, we haven't even had any eggs yet.
